Cricket Betting at jelly taka — Play the Best Markets from BPL to the T20 World Cup
Every cricket format, every major tournament — at jelly taka you can join a wide range of markets from match winner to live in-play. This page explains the key aspects of betting in plain language.
Cricket's Three Formats and Popular Tournaments
Cricket fans in Bangladesh mostly watch and bet on three formats. Because the pace and tactics of each format differ, the type of betting markets also changes.
T20 Cricket
This fastest format is played over just 20 overs. BPL, IPL, and the T20 World Cup are all played in this format. Since odds change with every ball, live betting is most popular here.
BPL · IPL · T20 WCODI Cricket
50 overs are played in a one-day match. The ICC World Cup and bilateral series are held in this format. Markets like total runs, top batsman, and match winner are very popular here.
ICC WC · Bilateral SeriesTest Cricket
This five-day format is the most tactical. Since a draw is possible, there are three-outcome markets — Team A wins, Team B wins, or draw. Understanding patience and the flow of the match plays a big role here.

Betting on BPL, IPL and International Matches
Interest in cricket betting in Bangladesh is highest during the BPL season. The odds moving up and down in each franchise match makes betting even more engaging. There is also strong interest among Bangladeshi bettors in IPL, as on-field conditions and batsmen's form change quickly.
When Bangladesh players take the field in international matches — the ICC T20 World Cup or bilateral series — the betting markets take on a different energy. All these tournament markets are available in one place at jelly taka.

The Difference in Betting on Football and Other Sports
Outside cricket, football is equally popular in Bangladesh. But the betting structure of the two sports is quite different. Cricket has overs, wickets, and innings-based markets; football markets lean more toward half-time scores, corners, and goal scorers.
In T20, a wicket falling or a six being hit changes the odds immediately. A goal in football also moves the odds, but the change is generally slower. In Test cricket, the market picture becomes clear gradually over five days. Knowing these differences makes it easier to understand how to approach markets in each sport.
The Most Popular Betting Markets
Here is a plain-language explanation of the markets most commonly used in cricket betting at jelly taka.
Match Winner
Betting on which team will win the match. Example: the favourite team has lower odds, while the other team has higher odds. The simplest and most familiar market.
Toss Winner
Betting on which team will win the toss before the match starts. A completely separate market where both teams usually have roughly equal odds.
Top Batsman
Betting on which batsman will score the most runs for their team. Odds can shift quickly mid-innings.
Total Runs Over / Under
Whether the total runs in an innings or a full match will be above or below a set number — this over/under market is very common in T20. Example: will the total runs in 20 overs be more than 160.
Multi Bet
Combining multiple matches or markets multiplies the odds together, raising the overall odds. However, if any one market is wrong, the entire bet is lost. More details on this market are given in the odds section below.
Man of the Match
Which player will be named player of the match — this market has many options and odds are generally higher because you have to pick a specific name.
First Over Runs
How many total runs will be scored in the first over — this small market is quite popular in T20. The opener's form and pitch conditions play a big role here.
Top Bowler
Which bowler will take the most wickets — this is estimated by analysing the match pitch and the team's bowling lineup. In live betting, the odds on this market change as wickets fall.
How to Read Odds
Odds in betting are written in three formats — decimal, fractional, and American. jelly taka generally uses the decimal format, but it helps to understand all three. Concrete examples are given below to explain this.
Team A to win — decimal 3.00, fractional 2/1, and American +200 are all the same odds. A ৳500 bet returns a total of ৳1,500 if Team A wins (৳1,000 profit + ৳500 original stake). If Team A loses, ৳500 is gone.
Team B is the favourite — so odds are lower: decimal 1.25, fractional 1/4, American -400 (meaning a ৳400 bet wins ৳100 profit). A ৳500 bet returns ৳625 if they win (৳125 profit). American minus odds show how much you need to bet to make ৳100 profit.
Three separate matches with decimal odds of 1.50, 1.60, and 1.80 — combining all three in a multi bet gives total odds of: 1.50 × 1.60 × 1.80 = 4.32 (approx). So a ৳100 bet returns ৳432 if all three are correct. But if any one market is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost. Multi bets increase potential returns, but also increase risk.
The higher the odds number, the less likely the bookmaker considers that outcome. Decimal odds directly represent the total return — just multiply by the stake amount.
Wickets Fall, Odds Change — Live Betting
Live in-play betting means placing bets while the match is in progress. In T20, when a wicket falls the batting team's odds rise immediately, because a new batsman has come in and the pressure to score has increased. Similarly, a six lowers the batting team's odds.
In the last five overs, if the required run rate climbs or a big wicket falls, odds can change within seconds. During live betting, some markets may temporarily close — this is normal and part of the process of new odds being set.
In ODI, the pace of odds changes slows somewhat after the powerplay overs end. In Test, if the pitch breaks up in the final session of the day, the bowling team's odds drop noticeably.
What You Should Know Before You Start Betting
Cricket betting is a form of entertainment. Keeping the following points in mind will make the experience more structured.
Set a budget first: Decide in advance how much you are willing to spend on betting. Betting is for entertainment — it is not an alternative to your main income.
Understand one market well: Instead of jumping into all markets at once, start with match winner or total runs over/under.
No rushing in live betting: Because odds change quickly, there is a temptation to decide fast. But understand the flow of the match before placing a bet.
Keep selections low in multi bets: The more markets you combine, the higher the risk. It is better to start with two or three selections.
Play responsibly: If you need to set betting limits or take a break, read the responsible gaming guidelines. jelly taka offers support for this.
Know the rules: To learn about betting terms and conditions, void bet rules, and the withdrawal process, visit the terms and conditions page.
